Within close proximity is Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserve, a wildlife haven covering 105 acres. It's made up of lakes, mature broadleaved and conifer woodland, sandy, wet meadows and heaths. The reserve not only encourages wildlife, but also provides facilities for people to visit. Walk the trails and get close to nature.

Our neighbours, David & Gill run Windmill Animal Farm. Here visitors get a chance to experience the every day running of an actual working farm while still having the chance to watch, feed, touch and play with animals. As well as beautiful and unusual animals to see, the farm has three marvelous children's play areas.

The wetland centre plays host to a permanent collection spanning 100 rare and exotic bird species, while providing a temporary home for thousands of migratory swans, ducks and geese. The sanctuary, which covers 531 acres, is where Bill Oddie and Kate Humble were based to film the BBC's Autumn Watch in 2006 and 2007.

Other local attractions include: Rufford Old Hall, National Trust (2.5 miles), Ormskirk Market Day held Thursday & Saturday every week (5.2 miles), Southport Centre (8.2 miles)
